Council of Europe, Strasbourg, France, 21-22 February 2013
This conference marked the culmination of a three-year project by a group of experts contracted by the Council of Europe, under the auspices of the European Commission, to write an policy guide to fight poverty, rebuild systems of public finance, and reduce inequality in Europe. As one of these contracted experts, I participated as part of a plenary session at the conference marking the release of the report resulting from the group’s work: Living in Dignity in the Twenty-First Century – Poverty and inequality in societies of human rights.
I spoke on a roundtable on new and alternative strategies to address European poverty and inequality, along with Talley Hoban (dumpster diver, Germany), Ugo Mattei (International University College of Turin, Italy), and Jacob Von Uexkull (World Future Council, Sweden).
